Loren J. Keister, age 82, of Albion, IN passed away on Monday February 18, 2019 at 9:08 AM at Golden Years Visiting Nurse Home in Fort Wayne, IN. He was born on November 2, 1936 the son of Clarence H. and Maude (Thompson) Keister in Noble County, IN. On October 3, 1961, he married Karen Lewallen in Ligonier, IN.
Survivors include his wife of 57 years, Karen Keister of Albion, IN; 5 children, Mike (JoAnn) Meyers of Hicksville, OH, Marilyn (Dale) Winebrenner of Albion, IN, Timothy “John” Keister of Albion, IN, Rusty Keister of Warsaw, IN, Loraine “Dewey” Smith of Albion, IN; 8 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; 5 siblings, Eloise Miller of Albion, IN, Betty Schlotter of Alex, OK, Andrew (Beverly) Keister of Utica, NY, and Patricia (Frank) Iddings of Albion, IN and Clarence “Amos” (companion, Mary Lou) Keister of Channahon, IL; along with numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
He was preceded in death by two sons, Leland “Tater” Keister and Brian Rickman; his parents; and three siblings, Dorothy A. Workman, Vance “Kook” Keister, and infant Nicholas John Keister.
Loren’s was a lifetime resident of Noble County and graduated from Albion Jefferson High School in 1955. He retired from Dana Corporation after over 37 years of faithful service. His life was his family, his friends, and especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Loren enjoyed attending antique steam shows, setting up flea markets, “junking”, and chewing tobacco while scratching his favorite tickets.
In keeping with Loren’s wishes, no public visitation or services are planned. A cremation committal will take place at Legacy Cremation and Remembrance in Ligonier.
