Joseph J. Wentworth

April 25, 1956 — August 8, 2020

Joseph J. Wentworth, age 64, of Columbia City, IN passed away at home, surrounded by his family, on Saturday morning August 8, 2020. He was born on April 25, 1956 in Kalamazoo, MI the son of Robert and Vivian (Taylor) Wentworth. On May 8, 1976, he married Susan Butler, and together they shared 44 years of marriage.

Joe graduated from Three Rivers High School and attended Glen Oaks Community College. Prior to moving to Columbia City, IN, he lived in Parchment, MI and Three Rivers, MI. He worked at Essex Wire for 25 years, and then for Paragon Medical until becoming disabled. Joe was actively involved with the Boy Scouts for over 20 years. He enjoyed collecting Elvis memorabilia as well as listening to The King. Joe also enjoyed Notre Dame football. One of his favorite family pastimes was camping with both family and friends at several local campgrounds.

Joe is survived by his wife, Susan Wentworth of Columbia City, IN; daughter, Fonda (Tim) Traxler of South Whitley, IN; sons, Robert (Kathy) Wentworth of Kendallville, IN, and Joseph (Amy) Wentworth of Fort Wayne, IN; grandchildren, Judd and Becca Traxler, Khloe Wentworth, and Micah Wentworth; a sister, Doris Miner of Parchment, MI; and his beloved dog, Duke.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Phillip and Leon Wentworth; and a sister, Marjorie McComis.

A cremation committal will take place at Legacy Cremation & Remembrance Center in Ligonier, IN. A celebration of Joe’s life will be held at a later date with Pastor David Martin officiating.
