Herman William Johnson

June 24, 1936 — February 10, 2024

Herman William Johnson, 87, of Union City, Indiana passed away February 10, 2024 at home. He was born on June 24, 1936 to Herman Niles and Ida (Meeks) Johnson in Union City.

Herman graduated with the class of 1955 at the Jackson School Building in Union City, OH. He then served in the US Army and was stationed in Baltimore, Maryland (Nike) where he met Nancy Schepers and on Oct 27, 1957 they married. They moved back to Herman’s home in Union City to start a family. Herman worked at Union City Body Company for several years, he also worked as a Route Skipper at Dairymaid. In 1976, his entrepreneurial spirit led him to an opportunity for business ownership where he started Timmons Water Systems in Union City, Ohio, which is still family owned and operated today.  Herman was a hard worker who instilled that same work ethic in his children at a very young age so they appreciated the value of money.

Herman liked boating, fishing, bird watching, raising wild canaries, gardening, bowling, billiards, and fishing. He enjoyed spending summers with friends and family in Brookville at the lake cottage and wintering in Estero, Florida. Herman didn’t miss many meals, as he was a true foodie. He enjoyed his naps and loved times filled with family and good belly laugh.

Herman is survived by his wife of 66 years, Nancy Johnson;
his children, Sheila (Steve) Stanley of Ocala, Florida; Don Johnson of Bonita Springs, Florida; Bren Johnson of Boiling Springs, SC; Nathan (Jacqui) Johnson of Union City, Ohio; 9 grandchildren; 7 great grandchildren; and his little Pomeranian, Cookie.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Martin Niles Johnson; and his Pomeranian princess, Baby.

No public services are planned at this time.

Memorial contributions may be directed to Everheart Hospice, 1350 N. Broadway St., Greenville, OH 45331.
