The family of Gail Lynn Johnson of Syracuse, Indiana is heartbroken to announce her passing on November 16, 2024. She was born on January 19, 1955 to Rudy Eugene Abshire, Sr and Bethel Mae (Johnson) Shelton in Charleston, WV. Gail never met a stranger. She was a ray of sunshine to everyone she was around and her passion in life was to be here on this earth with her husband and best friend of 32 years and to love on those around her. We are utterly devasted with the loss of such a sweet, sweet soul.
Gail was preceded in death by 10 hours by her stepson Thomas Johnson of Kendallville. Mama had asked Tom to save her a seat in heaven if he got there first. I know that God allowed them to enter the kingdom on the same day to comfort us that they were there for one another. Also, preceding her in death were her father Rudy Abshire, Sr, her baby boy Casey Baron Barber (forever age 29), her beloved mother Bethel Mae Shelton (Johnson), and brother Jerry Holcomb.
Left to honor her memory are her husband of the home, Arthur Johnson, Daughter Brigette Barber of North Carolina, Brother Rudy Abshire, Jr (Debbie) of North Carolina, Her beloved grandchildren Destini Teasley, Brady Teasley (Abby), and Brooklyn Teasley of North Carolina, Four great-grandchildren Xavier (4), Kailani (4), Tatum (1), Kamora (10 months), and one on the way in March 2025, niece Michelle Abshire Ratliff (Brandon) and family of North Carolina, Step-sons Kenny Johnson (Kim) and family, Matt Johnson (Natasha) and family, step-daughter Amy Johnson and family, lots of family and friends of WV, a host of step-grandchildren and step great-grandchildren, and many close friends from the American Legion Posts 243 and 253.
We are grateful for all the support and love that we have received from family and friends during the unimaginable time of
brokenness and grief. We will be having a celebration of her life sometime soon in Indiana and later in North Carolina.
I lieu of flowers, send condolences to Arthur Johnson 9661 E 1350 N, Syracuse, Indiana, 46567.
