Earl Ray Tipton Sr.

Earl Ray Tipton Sr., age 88, of Albion, IN, passed away on Sunday, June 19, 2022 at home following an extended illness. He was born on April 24, 1934 the son of Fred King and Rizzie Sparks in Spruce Pine, NC. On September 6, 1985 he married Lee Patty in Albion, IN.

He is survived by his wife of over 36 years, Lee Tipton of Albion, IN; a son Earl Ray Tipton Jr. of Albion; eleven grandchildren; lots of great-grandchildren; and two great-great grandchildren; along with a niece and two nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a daughter, Tammy Noe; a brother, Billy Ray; and a sister, Ruby Sparks.

Earl graduated from Spruce Pine High School in Spruce Pine, NC and served his country honorably in the United States Army. He retired from Dana in Syracuse and then went to work for Geiger Excavating for several more years. Earl was a very hardworking man and worked well into his eighties. He also enjoyed custom woodworking and was a member of the American Legion in Churubusco. Earl was a talented musician and a country music singer for many years, recording  “Earl Tipton, The Singing Truck Driver” in 1985.

In keeping with Earl’s wishes, no public visitation or services are planned.

Legacy Cremation & Remembrance Center in Ligonier is assisting the family with arrangements.
